Announcement: Upcoming Webinar on Anxiety Disorders in Dogs
Hi all!
A quick announcement – I will be hosting a webinar this evening (Thursday, 10/31) through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy about anxiety issues in dogs. Full description and registration link are below.
Note that FDSA is doing an anxiety webinar “double header” this evening! Dr. Jessica Hekman, a veterinarian and PhD who works as a researcher studying how genetics and environmental factors affect behavior, will also be presenting on this topic from a research perspective – which should be really fascinating, for any fellow dog behavior geeks out there! 🙂
**Note: you DO NOT have to attend the webinar live, if it doesn’t fit with your schedule. As long as you’re registered, a recording will be available for you to watch at your convenience. But, you do need to make sure to register BEFORE the webinar date, as it won’t be available for purchase afterwards.**
Cost for the webinar is $19.95. Registration link is here: FDSA webinar page

Anxiety Disorders In Dogs: Why Do They Happen, And How Can We Help?
Thursday, October 31st – 6 pm Pacific time (9 pm Eastern)
If you’ve ever lived with an anxious dog, you know that understanding and managing this problem can be a challenge! Fortunately, there’s a lot we can do to help these pups once a diagnosis is made. There are also some concrete actions we can take BEFORE getting a dog, or after bringing home a new puppy, to help prevent anxiety problems from arising in the first place.
In this webinar, we’ll talk about the following topics:
- Deconstructing labels: what is “anxiety”, anyway? How is it different from a fear response or phobia?
- Risk factors for the development of anxiety disorders
- Clinical approach to treatment, including behavior modification and drug therapy options

An anxiety webinar on Halloween night? Not the best timing.
Ah, but that’s the point – it’s actually perfect timing! What better night to talk about scary things? 🙂
